A branch of the UK’s 166-year-old independent day school for girls, NLCS Jeju opened in September 2011, and currently has some 800 Korean and international students.
The large campus offers fully equipped classrooms and science and computer labs, as well as a boarding school, an indoor pool, and a large concert hall.
Most of its contingent of highly experienced educators are British. In the Senior School they teach a University of Cambridge designed qualification called the IGCSE.

Curriculum includes IGCSE and IB qualifications
NLCS Jeju also became an International Baccalaureate (or IB) World School in June 2012 and all Senior School students prepare for this internationally recognized diploma.
To keep Korean students in touch with their roots, though, there are compulsory language, history and society classes taught by Korean teachers.
NLCS co-curricular activities include Saturday morning classes such as scuba diving, gymnastics, and archery. There are also some 70 after-school clubs, as well as academic societies, where students come together for discussion and debate.

The provincial government is making Jeju a Free International City, and is backing the promotion of domestic and foreign investment in core projects such as the education city, a science park, healthcare town, and more. Having a prestigious institution like NLCS run a large campus here on the island is yet another feather in Jeju’s cap.
