‘Nothing being done with former Tamna University campus’
Provincial council member urges Seogwipo to utilize site


During a recent audit, the provincial council’s government administration committee concluded that the city of Seogwipo has failed to put the former campus of Tamna University to good use.


Committee chair (고충홍) Ko Chung-hong contended Mayor (이중환) Lee Jung-hwan did not attempt to attract colleges as part of the planned development of the city into a center for top-quality education.


Ko went on to say that a vast sum of money was used to purchase the site, but that there was yet no plan to use it for anything. He urged the city to work with residents to resolve the situation.


In other news from the inspection, lawmakers Kang Gyeong-shik and Lee Sang-bong called for measures to alleviate conflicts in Gangjeong caused by the building of the military-civilian port there. They argued that a sense of unity needed to be restored in the community.




도의회 "옛 탐라대 부지 활용 계획 마련해야"


서귀포시를 상대로 한 제주도의회 행정자치위원회 행정사무감사에서 옛 탐라대 부지가 활용되지 않는 점이 부각됐습니다.


고충홍 위원장은 이중환 시정이 명품 교육도시 육성을 과제로 제시하고 있지만 대학 유치는 빠져 있다고 지적했습니다.


또 막대한 예산을 들여 옛 탐라대 부지를 매입했지만 활용 방안은 마련되지 않고 있다며 지역주민과 고민해 의견을 제시해야 한다고 강조했습니다.


이와함께 강경식, 이상봉 의원은 민군복합형 관광미항과 관련해 강정마을의 갈등을 해소하고
공동체를 회복할 수 있는 대책을 주문했습니다.
