Population influx slowing
Fewer people moving here since June


The number of people moving to Jeju began to slow down in the second half of the year.

According to Statistics Korea, around 850 people moved to the island last month. That’s 500 fewer than in September 2015 and the lowest monthly total of this year.


The third-quarter tally has dropped from 4,000 people moving here last year to 3,300 this year.

In the first half of this year, 29 percent more people moved here than in the first six months of 2015. The number started falling only in June.



제주 이주 인구, 하반기 들어 감소세


상승세를 이어오던 제주 이주 인구가 하반기 들어 둔화되고 있습니다.


통계청에 따르면, 지난달 제주로 이동한 인구는 849명으로 지난해 같은달 1천 300여 명보다 500명 가량 줄어 올 들어 월 기준으로는 최저 수준을 기록했습니다.


올해 3분기 이동 인구도 3천300여 명으로 지난해 같은 기간보다 700명 정도 감소했습니다.


올해 상반기까지만 해도 이동 인구가 지난해보다 29% 증가했지만 7월부터 감소세로 돌아서며 상반기와 대조를 보였습니다.
