Business ticks up in 2015 at traditional markets
Slight increase in sales, number of shoppers


Slightly more people are shopping at traditional markets in Jeju, and that has boosted sales a bit.

Jeju National University’s industrial-academic cooperation group surveyed the island’s 24 traditional markets. Researchers found that average daily sales last year were up 2.7 percent over the 2014 figure to roughly 150 million won.

The number of shoppers was up 3.1 percent to about 5,700 per day.

Researchers say the growth was rather low because consumption dropped last year in the wake of the mainland MERS outbreak.




전통시장 이용객·매출액 소폭 상승


제주도내 전통시장 이용객과 매출액이 소폭 증가했습니다.


제주대학교 산학협력단이 지난해 제주지역 전통시장 24곳의 매출동향을 조사한 결과 전통시장 한 곳 당 하루 평균 매출액은 1억 4천 700여 만 원으로 전년대비 380만 원, 2.7%가 늘었습니다.


하루 평균 고객수는 5천 7백여 명으로 5천 5백여 명을 기록한 2014년보다 3.1% 증가했습니다.


산학협력단은 이용객과 매출액이 다소 증가했지만 지난해 메르스로 인한 소비 위축 등으로 증가폭은 적었다고 설명했습니다.
