‘Farmers need better disaster insurance’
Provincial officials petition Seoul to expand support


In related news, the provincial government wants to overhaul and expand the disaster insurance system for the local agricultural industry.


Local officials have submitted an official suggestion to their national counterparts that would boost the share of insurance premiums paid by the government from 50 to 60 percent. It would also boost the amount of compensation offered for greenhouse damage from 35 to 60 percent.


The province also wants to expand coverage to include the vinyl used to cover local greenhouses and the supplementary facilities used at them, like heating systems. Those items were not covered in the national support offered for Typhoon Chaba damage.


Provincial officials say they will coordinate closely with the agriculture ministry and other relevant government agencies to push for the changes.

제주특별자치도는 재해보험료의 국고 보조비율을 현행 50에서 60%로 올리고
하우스시설 피해 보상을 현행 35%에서 60%로 상향 조정하는 내용의 제도개선안을 정부에 건의했습니다.


특히 이번 태풍때 국비 지원대상에서 제외된 하우스 비닐과 난방기 등 부속시설도
보상 대상에 포함할 것을 요청했습니다.


제주도는 제도개선이 이뤄질 수 있도록 농식품부 등 정부부처와 적극적으로 협의할 계획입니다.
