Drought relief funding for carrot farmers
530 hectares qualify for support


The national government will pay out disaster relief funding to island carrot farmers whose crops were ravaged by the summer drought.


During a recent meeting on the issue, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries decided to disperse the aid among 680 farms. Among them, carrot seeds on a total of 532 hectares did not sprout due to the drought and heat wave over the summer.


Affected growers can collect 1.5 million won per hectare. 55.7 percent of it will be support from the provincial and national governments, 26 percent will be offered as loans with special financing, and 17 percent will be other loans that the growers must take out.


The Jeju government will line up its part of the funding this week and then begin making the first payments to the farmers.

지난 여름 가뭄으로 피해를 입은 당근농가에 대한 재해복구비가 지원됩니다.


농식품부는 최근 농작물 가뭄재해 복구심의회를 열고 지난 여름 가뭄과 폭염으로 파종된 씨앗이 발아되지 않아 피해를 입은 제주 당근농가 680농가, 532헥타아르 면적에 대해 복구비를 지원하기로 결정했습니다.


지원은 1헥타아르에 150만원으로 국비와 도비 지원 55.7%, 융자 26%, 자부담 17%입니다.


제주도는 금주중에 도비 부담금을 예비비로 확보한 후 농가에 복구비를 지급할 계획입니다.
