Consumer prices on the increase
Surge in prices for fresh food


An increase in fresh food prices is driving overall consumer prices up in Jeju.

According to the Honam branch of Statistics Korea, the October consumer price index in Jeju was 110.69. That represents a 1.4 percent increase compared to the same time last year.

Researchers say this summer’s heat wave and a recent typhoon have driven fresh food prices up nearly 19 percent.

Apartment residents are also paying 7.3 percent more for maintenance and management and 2.1 percent more in monthly rent.




소비자물가 상승세…신선식품 '껑충'


신선식품 가격이 오르면서 제주지역 소비자물가도 덩달아 상승하고 있습니다.


호남지방통계청에 따르면 지난달 제주지역 소비자물가지수는 110.69로 지난해 같은 기간보다 1.4% 상승했습니다.


특히 지난 여름 가뭄과 태풍 피해로 인해 채소류 등 신선식품지수가 18.9% 오르며 상승률을 이끌었습니다.


또 공동주택관리비와 월세가 각각 7.3%, 2.1% 상승하며 가계에 부담을 주고 있습니다.
