Less farmland planted with winter crops
Total down 0.8% compared to last year


Winter crops are being grown on less local land this year compared to last.


The provincial government tallied the total land space devoted to Jeju’s eleven major winter crops and found that it is down 0.8 percent to 13,200 hectares.


The area set aside for carrots, chives, and winter radishes went down by 11.8 percent, 5.5 percent, and 2.5 percent, respectively… while kohlrabi and cabbage fields grew by 0.5 and 17.2 percent.


Based on these statistics, the province plans to work with the provincial agricultural research and extension service, agricultural organizations, and the like to encourage farmers to grow appropriate levels of winter crops.


올해 월동채소 재배면적 전년보다 소폭 감소


올해 제주지역의 주요 월동채소 재배면적이 지난해보다 소폭 줄어들 것으로 조사됐습니다.


제주특별자치도가 지난 한달 동안 주요 채소류 11개 품목의 재배의향을 조사한 결과 면적은 작년보다 0.8% 감소한 1만 3천 200여 ha로 나타났습니다.


이 가운데 당근과 쪽파, 월동무는 각각 11.8%, 5.5%, 2.5% 감소했고,


나머지 콜라비와 배추 등 8개 품목은 0.5%에서 17.2% 늘어난 것으로 조사됐습니다.


제주도는 이번 조사결과를 토대로 농업기술원, 행정시, 농업관련 단체들과 함께 월동채소류 적정재배를 유도해나갈 계획입니다.
