Jeju employment rate up in October
Working conditions ‘poor’


Analysts say the local employment rate has inched up but that working conditions are below par.


According to new figures from the Honam Regional Statistics Office, Jeju’s employment rate in October stood at 69.9 percent… up 0.4 percentage points from a year ago.


This was above the national average of 61.1 percent… and the highest since records began in 2005.


However, the proportion of people working under 36 hours a week also increased 23 percent compared to the year prior… showing signs that working conditions were relatively poor.

제주지역 고용률이 소폭 상승했습니다.


호남지방통계청에 따르면 지난달 제주지역 고용률은 69.9%로 지난해 같은 기간보다 0.4%p 증가했습니다.


이같은 고용률은 전국 평균 61.1%를 웃도는 것으로 통계작성을 시작한 2005년 이후 가장 높습니다.


다만 주당 근무시간이 36시간 미만 취업자가 지난해보다 23% 증가하며 근무 여건은 열악한 것으로 조사됐습니다.
