Jeju adding 1,500 new residents a month
Population projected to surpass 660,000 this year


Jeju’s population has been going up by an average of 1,500 people every month this year, and analysts say it will soon hit 660,000.


According to the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs… Jeju’s population stood at roughly 631,000 in October. That means 13,000 more people were living here than a year previously.


If you add in the 19,000 foreigners registered in Jeju, the total comes to around 658,000.


If the current trend continues, Jeju will be home to over 660,000 people by the end of the year.


제주 인구 매달 1천500명 증가…66만 육박


제주도 인구가 매달 1천500 명 가량 늘어나면서 이제 66만명에 육박했습니다.


행정자치부에 따르면 지난달 기준으로 제주 인구는 63만 천여 명으로 올들어서만 1만 3천여 명이 증가했습니다.


도내 등록 외국인은 1만 9천여 명으로 내국인과 외국인을 통틀어 65만 8천여 명에 이르고 있습니다.


제주 주민등록 인구가 한달 평균 1천500명씩 증가하는 점을 감안할 때 제주 인구는 올해 안에 66만명을 넘어설 것으로 전망됩니다.
