Province expanding farmland survey
Authorities checking if land is being used for agricultural purposes


The provincial government is surveying farmland to see if it is being used for agricultural purposes, and it has announced it will expand the inspection to include all plots of farmland bought since 2008.


In the first phase of the survey, authorities examined farmland acquired after 2012 by non-Jeju residents. It is now in the second phase, which involves probes into the 3,300 plots bought by islanders.


The upcoming third phase will involve an inspection into all farmland acquired between 2008 and 2011, which adds up to roughly 40,000 plots.


If any violations are found, the land must be sold off within one year.


취득농지 이용실태 조사, 2008년 이후로 확대


제주도가 농지이용실태를 조사하고 있는 가운데 조사대상을 2008년 이후 취득농지로 확대합니다.


제주특별자치도는 1단계로 지난 2012년 이후 도내 비거주자의 취득농지에 대한 이용실태를 조사한데 이어 지금은 2단계로 도내 거주자로 대상을 확대해 목적대로 이용하지 않은 3천 300여 필지에 대해 청문절차를 진행중입니다.


이같은 절차가 마무리되면 3단계로 2008년부터 2011년까지 취득한 농지 4만 필지에 대한 전수조사를 벌일 방침입니다.


이번 조사에서 위법성이 드러나면 1년 내에 취득농지를 처분해야 합니다.
