83-yr-old Korean-Japanese woman donates \100m to JNU
Jwa Ok-hwa was born in Seogwipo


An 83 year old Korean-Japanese woman has donated 100 million won to Jeju National University.


(좌옥화) Jwa Ok-hwa visited JNU November 15th and delivered the donation to President (허향진) Heo Hyang-jin, asking him to spend the money on the students.


Born in Songsan-dong in Seogwipo, Jwa moved to Japan 65 years ago. She graduated from Meiji University in Tokyo, headed a travel agency called Apollo Tour, and worked as the president of the Korean-Japanese women’s society in Tokyo.


Ms. Jwa currently serves as an executive member of the Jeju Scholarship Foundation.

올해 83살의 재일제주인 좌옥화할머니가
제주대학교에 발전기금 1억원을 기탁했습니다.


좌옥화 할머니는 오늘(15일) 제주대를 방문해
허향진 총장에게 학생들을 위해 써달라며 기금을 전달했습니다.


서귀포시 송산동 출신인 좌 할머니는 65년 전 일본으로 건너간 후
도쿄 명치대학을 졸업하고 아폴로여행사 사장과
도쿄 재일 제주부인회 회장을 역임했습니다.


현재는 제주장학재단 이사를 맡고 있습니다.
