Chinese consortium becomes top shareholder in Majestar Casino
Chinese travel agency based in Jeju has 50% stake in consortium


A consortium that includes a locally-based Chinese travel agency has become the major shareholder in Shilla Hotel’s Majestar Casino.


According to Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service, NHT Consortium recently acquired 4.9 million shares in the Majestar, meaning it controls 12.9 percent of the company.


New Huacheng International Travel is a Chinese travel agency based in Jeju that focuses on bringing Chinese to the island, and it has a 50 percent stake in NHT.


NHT Consortium is currently developing a resort at a long-abandoned hotel site in Aewol-eup, Jeju City. It reportedly plans to move the Majestar Casino there by 2018.

NHT 컨소시엄은 20년 이상 표류된 제주시 애월읍 르네상스호텔에 리조트개발을 추진 중이며 2018년 마제스타 카지노를 이전할 계획인 것으로 알려졌습니다.
