Police probe public medical centers for suspected fraud
Alleged to have rigged bids for medical supplies with 2 companies


The Jeju Provincial Police Agency has launched a fraud investigation involving public medical centers and medical supply companies.


Police say they raided and seized records from Jeju Medical Center, Seogwipo Medical Center, and two suppliers in late October. They are currently looking into the public auctions for medical supplies the centers have had since 2013.


Investigators say they have reason to believe representatives from both the centers and companies may have rigged public bids to ensure the firms won contracts to supply the medical centers.


The two companies had unusually high success rates in the auctions and police are trying to determine if that meant anything illegal happened.


공공의료원 2곳 입찰 밀어주기 의혹 경찰 수사


도내 공공의료원의 의료기기 입찰과정에서 특정업체를 밀어줬다는 의혹이 불거져 경찰이 수사에 나섰습니다.


제주지방경찰청은 지난달 말 두 차례에 걸쳐 제주의료원과 서귀포의료원을 비롯해 도내 의료기기 납품업체 2곳을 압수수색하고 지난 2013년부터 4년여 동안의 의료기기 공개입찰 과정 전반을 살펴보고 있다고 밝혔습니다.


특히 경찰은 이 과정에서 제주의료원과 서귀포의료원의 계약 담당 직원을 비롯해 의료기기 업체 대표를 입찰방해 혐의로 입건해 조사하고 있습니다.


경찰은 입건된 2곳 업체의 낙찰률만 유독 높았던 이유에 대해 조사하며
대가성이 있었는지 여부 등을 확인하고 있습니다.
