Decision on proposed shopping center next month

The Jeju City municipal administration will decide by the end of next month whether to approve a new underground shopping center.


The Jeju Olle Park proposal includes the construction of a large shopping center and parking lot beneath (광양로) Gwangyang-ro.


City officials are now examining the project after recently receiving the results of a feasibility test. They plan to announce their decision sometime after mid-December.


The developer is proposing building six entrances to the underground parking lot around Gwangyang-ro, so the possibility of increased traffic problems is shaping up to be the biggest hurdle for the project.


Jeju Olle Park is projected to cost 230 billion won. Its parking lot would accommodate 850 vehicles. In addition to shops, it would also have a culture plaza and an open gallery.


광양로 지하상가 타당성 여부 다음달 윤곽


제주시 광양로 일대 지하상가와 대규모 지하주차장을 조성하는 제주올레파크 개발사업에 대한 타당성 여부가 다음달 중순 이후에 나올 전망입니다.


제주시는 최근 제주올레파크 개발사업 타당성 검토 용역이 마무리됨에 따라 자체 검토 작업에 들어가 다음달 중순 이후, 사업 타당성 여부에 대한 입장을 발표할 예정이라고 밝혔습니다.


특히 업체측은 광양로 주변 6개 지점에 차량 진.출입로를 설치할 계획이어서 교통문제가 가장 큰 변수가 될 전망입니다.


제주올레파크는 기부체납방식으로 사업비 2천300억원을 투입해 850대 규모의 지하 공영주차장을 비롯한 문화광장과 오픈 갤러리 등을 조성할 계획입니다.
