Annual visitors to Jeolmul Forest top 700,000 for first time
Tally up 20% compared to last year


The number of annual visitors to Jeolmul Natural Recreation Forest has topped 700,000 for the first time since it opened in 1997.


The tally stands at 703,000, up 20 percent, or 110,000 visitors, from the same point a year ago.


45 percent of the people going there this year have been general visitors, 11 percent have been on group tours, and 21 percent have been children, the elderly, and/or disabled.


Given the large number of visitors who may struggle physically to enjoy the forest, Jeju City says it will continue to improve the trails to better accommodate strollers and wheelchairs.


절물자연휴량림 입장객 첫 70만명 돌파


제주시 절물자연휴양림 입장객이 지난 1997년 개장 이후 20년 만에 처음으로 70만 명을 돌파했습니다.


제주시에 따르면 올들어 지금까지 절물자연휴양림 입장객 수는 70만 3천여 명으로 지난해 같은 기간보다 11만명, 20% 증가했습니다.


유형별로는 일반 탐방객이 45%, 단체 관광객 11%, 어린이나 노약자, 장애인 등 교통약자 21% 등입니다.


제주시는 교통약자 방문객의 비율이 높은 점을 감안해 유모차나 휠체어가 쉽게 다닐 수 있도록 산책로를 지속적으로 보완해 나갈 계획입니다.
