Jeju bans poultry from Gyeonggi region
Outbreak of highly pathogenic bird flu confirmed on mainland


Local authorities on Thursday banned the import to the island of poultry from the Gyeonggi-do Province region, following the discovery of a highly pathogenic strain of avian flu there.


Researchers on Wednesday confirmed a bird flu outbreak at a poultry farm in the city of Yangju.


Jeju authorities decided to ban poultry and eggs from Gyeonggi as well as surrounding districts, including Seoul and Incheon.


This broadens a ban that was already in place on poultry products from South Jeolla Province and North (충청) Chungcheong Province.


Jeju authorities are also advising people to report the import of poultry products from other regions not covered by the ban to the Veterinary Service Laboratory.


내일부터 경기지역 가금산물 반입 금지


내일(24일)부터 고병원성 조류인플루엔자가 발생한 경기지역 가금산물 반입도 금지됩니다.


제주도는 오늘(23일) 경기도 양주시 산란계 사육농장에서 고병원성 조류인플루엔자가 확진됨에 따라


내일부터 서울과 인천을 포함한 경기도지역에서 생산된 가금육과 알 등 가금산물에 대한 반입을 금지한다고 밝혔습니다.


이에 따라 가금산물 반입금지 지역은 경기지역과 전남, 충북 지역으로 확대됐습니다.


제주도는 반입금지 지역외에서 가금산물을 반입할 경우에도 반드시 동물위생시험소에 사전 반입신고를 해줄 것을 당부했습니다.
