Population influx slows
931 mainlanders moved here last month


Statistics Korea says the number of mainlanders moving to the island slowed down last month.


In a report on domestic population trends, the office reports that 931 Koreans switched their official residency to Jeju last month. That’s 47 percent fewer than October 2015.


It was also the second month in a row for the number of people moving here from the mainland to drop below 1,000.


Statistics Korea says the slowdown is due to rising real estate prices, worsening traffic and environmental problems, and problems with other living conditions.


제주 유입인구 증가세 주춤


꾸준히 이어지던 제주지역 유입인구 증가세가 주춤하는 모습입니다.


통계청이 발표한 10월 국내 인구 이동 자료에 따르면 제주 순유입인구는 931명으로 지난해 같은 기간보다 47% 감소했습니다.


올들어 순유입인구가 1천 명을 밑돈 것도 지난 9월 이후 두달 째입니다.


통계청은 부동산 가격 상승과 교통, 환경문제 등 정주여건이 악화되면서 인구 증가세가 둔화되는 것으로 분석했습니다.
