Jeju City urging restaurants to cut food waste
Eateries generate 44% of the city’s discarded food


Jeju City will soon launch a campaign designed to encourage restaurants to reduce the amount of food they throw away.


Officials aim to do that, in part, by urging 1,000 city restaurants to pack up leftover food for customers to take home.


A petition will also be circulated to reduce the number of side dishes they serve. That proposal was made by a group of 100 area residents.


44 percent of all food waste in Jeju City is generated by restaurants.

제주시가 음식점들을 대상으로 쓰레기 줄이기 캠페인을 전개합니다.


이번 캠페인은 제주시 관내 음식점 1천곳을 대상으로 '남은 음식물 싸주기'를 주 내용으로 이뤄집니다.


이와함께 범시민 100인 모임이 선정한 음식점 실천과제인 반찬 가지수 줄이기 실천 서명운동도 함께 추진합니다.


제주시 지역 음식물 쓰레기 가운데 44%가 음식점에서 배출되고 있는 것으로 추산되고 있습니다.
