‘Officials need to address residents’ concerns’
Jeju Airport Infrastructure Promotion Council meets Wednesday


In related news...at a Wednesday meeting at the Jeju Chamber of Commerce, Jeju Airport Infrastructure Promotion Council members said local authorities needed to resolve conflicts that stem from the plan to build the island’s second airport.


They argued it was vital to explain to area residents the plan for the new airport, and they said experts in conflict management should be sent out to communicate with the public.


Finally, council members said a group of of officials and residents should be formed as soon as possible to take stock of public opinion on the plans.


In response, provincial officials said they would offer institutional solutions to resolve the problems, for instance by commissioning experts on conflict resolution to lead the efforts.

오늘(7일) 제주상공회의소에서 열린 제주공항인프라 범도민추진협의회 회의에서는
주민 갈등 해소 방안을 충분히 마련해야 한다는 의견들이 이어졌습니다.


위원들은 제2공항 사업계획을 주민들에게 충분히 설명하고 소통할 수 있는 갈등 관리 전문가를 현장에 배치해야 한다고 강조했습니다.


또 제주도가 추진하는 민관협의체도 최대한 빨리 구성해 주민들의 의견을 적극 수렴하라고 주문했습니다.


제주도는 민간분야 갈등관리 전문가를 위촉하는 등 주민 갈등 해소를 위해 제도적으로 대안을 마련하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
