96 pupils won’t make cut for general HS admission in Jeju City

Ninety-six students who want to attend general high schools in Jeju City next year will be unable to.


According to the provincial office of education, 3,084 students applied for the 2017 academic year. The schools are going to accept only 2,988, meaning there are 1.03 applicants for every opening.


Among boys, Jeju Jeil High School is the most popular, while the majority of female students want to enter Jeju Jungang Girls High School.


The story is different outside the city, though. Schools elsewhere on the island plan to admit 2,276 students next year, but only 2,260 applied. This comes after Seogwipo High School, Namju High School, and Hallim High School hit their student number targets this year after falling short last year.


평준화지역 일반고 경쟁률 1.03대1…96명 탈락


내년도 제주시 평준화지역 일반계 고등학교 입학 시험에서 모두 96명이 탈락하게 될 전망입니다.


제주도교육청에 따르면, 2천 988명을 선발하는 내년 제주시 평준화지역 일반고의 신입생 원서접수를 마감한 결과 모두 3천 84명이 지원해 경쟁률은 1.03대 1을 기록했습니다.


탈락자는 96명이 발생할 것으로 예상되고 있습니다.


평준화지역 일반고 가운데 1지망 지원율이 가장 높은 학교는 남학생의 경우 제주제일고, 여학생은 제주중앙여고였습니다.


비평준화지역 일반고에는 2천 276명 모집에 2천 260명이 지원해 16명이 부족했으며 지난해 미달됐던 서귀포고와 남주고, 한림고 등은 올해 정원 초과로 돌아섰습니다.
