100+ electric taxis on island roads
Monday ceremony at Jeju Sports Complex to mark milestone

A Monday morning event at the Jeju Sports Complex celebrated the fact that Jeju now has 100 electric taxis.


Representatives from the electric vehicle and taxi industries attended the ceremony, which included a parade of some 80 electric cars and a commemoration designed to boost the number of electric cabs on the island.


Jeju became the first place to offer “e-taxis” taxis in Korea in 2013. It added six vehicles to the fleet in 2014, and it now has 101 - the most in any region of the country.


Local authorities aim to have 200 additional electric taxis running on island roads by the end of next year.


전기택시 100대 운영 기념 발대식 개최


전기택시 100대 운행을 기념한 발대식이 오늘(12일) 오전 제주종합경기장 일원에서 열렸습니다.


발대식에는 전기차 업체와 택시업계 관계자 등이 참석한 가운데 전기택시 보급 활성화를 위한 기념 행사와 전기택시 80 여대의 퍼레이드 등이 진행됐습니다.


전기택시는 지난 2013년 전국 최초로 제주에 도입 된 이후 2014년에 6대가 보급됐고 현재는 101대로 전국 최대 규모입니다.


제주도는 내년에 전기택시 2백대를 추가 보급할 계획입니다.
