Cable companies get go-ahead to bundle services
New rule comes into effect in 2017


Cable companies can begin next year selling bundles combining mobile phone, high-speed internet, and cable TV services.


The Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning announced Tuesday its guidelines for selling the packages.


Cable companies have until now been locked out of this sector of the market. The country’s three major mobile carriers, KT, SK Telecom and LG U Plus, however, have been allowed to bundle mobile phone, high-speed internet, IPTV, and internet phone services.

내년부터 케이블TV업체들은 이동 전화와 초고속인터넷,
그리고 케이블TV를 한데 묶은 결합상품을 판매할 수 있게 됩니다.


미래창조과학부는 오늘(13일) 이같은 내용을 담은
방송·통신 동등 결합 판매 가이드라인을 발표했습니다.


현재 KT와 SK텔레콤, LG유플러스 등 이통 3사는
자사의 이동전화와 초고속인터넷, IPTV,
인터넷전화 등을 묶은 결합상품을 판매하고 있지만
케이블TV업체들은
이동 전화 결합상품을 내놓지 못했었습니다.
