Jeju couples wait longest for marriage

On average, Jeju couples wait the longest to get married in the nation.

According to the Honam Regional Statistics Office, the average age Jeju men tied the knot last year was 32.8. For women, it was 30.1.

Compared to 10 years earlier, men got married 2.2 years later and women waited another 2.1 years.

Compared to the average Korean, men here wait 0.2 years longer for marriage, and women wait one tenth of a year more.

The marriage rate on the island last year was 6 per 1,000 people, which was the third highest in the country, following Gyeonggi and Chungnam.

제주도민 평균 혼인 연령이 전국에서 가장 높은 것으로 조사됐습니다.

호남지방통계청에 따르면 지난해 제주도민 평균 초혼 연령은 남성 32.8살, 여성 30.1살로 10년 전보다 각각 2.2살, 2.1살 높아졌습니다.

또 전국 평균보다 각각 0.2살, 0.1살 많은 것으로 전국에서 가장 높은 것입니다.

인구 1천명 당 혼인건수인 조혼인율은 6%로 경기와 충남에 이어 전국에서 가장 높은 것으로 나타났습니다.
