Governor expresses intent to leave ruling party
Saenuri Party divided over president’s impeachment

The governor says he plans to leave the Saenuri Party, which remains divided over the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye.

Won Heeryong on Wednesday said through social media that he has worked hard to bring about changes as a responsible member of the party. He said he sees no hope for what he called a “healthy conservatism” in the party, however.

Won added that it was time to change the old structure and usher in change in Korean politics. He said he will soon make an official announcement regarding this.


원희룡 지사, 새누리당 탈당 '시사'

최근 새누리당 분당 사태와 관련해 원희룡 제주도지사가 새누리당 탈당을 시사했습니다.

원지사는 오늘(21일) 소설네트워크서비스를 통해 그동안 새누리당 소속으로서 책임감을 가지고 새누리당의 변화를 위해 노력해왔지만 지금의 새누리당에서는 건강한 보수를 살릴 가능성이 없어졌다고 밝혔습니다.

그러면서 구체제를 마감하고 한국 정치의 틀을 바꾸기 위한 결단이 필요한 시점이라며 탈당 등의 입장을 조만간 밝히겠다고 덧붙였습니다.
