‘Jeju City mayor deserves official warning’
Audit commission says city failed to follow procedures with recent concert
In line with a series of reports we did here at KCTV, inspectors have now determined that Jeju City did not follow proper procedures in holding a recent concert.
The concert was part of a proclamation ceremony for the city’s waste reduction campaign.
The Provincial Commission of Audit and Inspection concluded that, among other things, the city failed to get permission from the provincial council for the event, and that it failed to subject the concert’s production to proper examination.
The commission demanded that the provincial government issue an official warning to Jeju City Mayor (고경실) Go Gyeong-sil.
Inspectors also say the city paid the company involved in the concert 650 million won without receiving a detailed statement of the services offered, and that it didn’t even properly record the transaction after the event.
The city spent more than twice as much in such sponsorship funding than that paid out by other organizations or local administrations.
