New method to forecast sunset, sunrise times

The National Institute of Meteorological Sciences has developed a new way to forecast the time of sunset and sunrise by using sun and cloud conditions.

The institute will also update the way it presents weather information. It now uses a text-based method, but it will start using an image-based method with representations of the sun, clouds, and other weather phenomena.

Anyone looking for the estimated times for the last sunset of 2016 and the first sunrise of 2017 can find the information on the institute’s homepage.

국립기상과학원, '해넘이·해돋이' 예측 기술 개발

국립기상과학원이 구름과 태양의 상태를 고려해 '해넘이와 해돋이'를 예측할 수 있는 기술을 개발했습니다.

이에 따라 단순 문자 형태로 제공됐던 날씨 정보는 앞으로 맑은 날 태양의 모습과 흐린날 구름의 모습 등 형태로 제공될 예정입니다.

올해말 해넘이와 연 초 해돋이 예측 자료는 각각 하루 전날 국립기상과학원 홈페이지를 통해 확인할 수 있습니다.
