POE instructs schools not to use state-authored history books
15 local schools had ordered them

The Jeju Provincial Office of Education has instructed local schools not to use state-authored history textbooks this year.

In an official statement, the office says schools should cancel orders for them and instead use the authorized textbooks they have been using.

The statement was sent to 15 schools that had ordered the state-authored textbooks.

Educational authorities have postponed by one year the use of those books in local middle and high schools. Rather than this year, they will be introduced in 2018.

도교육청, '국정역사 교과서 주문 취소' 지침

제주도교육청이 올해 국정 역사 교과서를 사용하지 말도록 각급 학교에 지침을 내렸습니다.

제주도교육청은 최근 각급 학교에 국정 역사 교과서 주문을 취소하고 대신 종전처럼 검정교과서를 사용하도록 하는 내용의 공문을 발송했다고 밝혔습니다.

이번에 공문을 보낸 학교는 국정교과서를 주문한 15개 고등학교입니다.

한편 교육부는 중.고등학교의 국정 역사 교과서 적용 시기를 당초 올해에서 내년으로 1년 연기했습니다.
