Joining tentatively-named New Conservative Party for Reform

Governor Won Heeryong is leaving the ruling Saenuri Party and joining the tentatively-named New Conservative Party for Reform.

Won held a press conference at the National Assembly Wednesday morning and attended a meeting with members of the breakaway NCPR.

In the afternoon, he made an official announcement at a local press conference from the provincial office.

Won follows Gyeonggi Province Governor Nam Kyung-pil to become the second leader of a province or major city to leave the Saenuri Party for the NCPR.

원희룡 제주특별자치도지사가 새누리당을 탈당해 개혁보수신당에 합류합니다.

원 지사는 내일(4일) 오전 국회에서 탈당 기자회견을 갖고 이어 개혁보수신당 회의에 참석할 것으로 알려지고 있습니다.

오후에는 제주도청 기자실에서 같은 내용으로 기자회견을 가질 예정입니다.

새누리당에서 광역단체장급 탈당은 남경필 경기도지사에 이어 두번째입니다.
