Jeju population surpasses 660,000 in December
Total has grown 10% in last three years

The population of Jeju surpassed 660,000 in December.

According to both municipal administrations, more than 480,000 people were reported as living in Jeju City at the end of last year, while some 180,000 called Seogwipo home.

Over the course of last year, Jeju City gained 13,000 inhabitants, while Seogwipo gained around 7,000, meaning the island’s population grew by nearly 20,000.

That works out to roughly 1,600 new residents per month.

The island’s population surpassed 600,000 in 2013. In 2014, it grew by 16,000, and then it grew by nearly 20,000 in 2015.

지난해말 제주도 인구 66만명 돌파

제주도 인구가 2016년 12월 기준으로 66만명을 돌파한 것으로 나타났습니다.

9일 양 행정시에 따르면 지난해말 기준으로 제주시 인구는 48만3천325명, 서귀포시 인구는 17만7만865명으로 제주도 총인구는 66만1천190명으로 집계됐습니다.

1년 새 제주시는 1만2만547명, 서귀포시는 7천288명 등 모두 1만9천835명이 늘어습니다.

한달 평균 1천600여명씩 늘어난 것입니다.

제주지역 인구는 2013년 60만명을 돌파한 이후 2014년 1만6천여명, 2015년 1만9천805명 등 꾸준히 증가하고 습니다.
