Chicken transport ban lifted
Still in effect for ducks

The provincial government has lifted its ban on the transport of chickens in the Gujwa-eup area, where a highly pathogenic strain of the bird flu virus was discovered.

Local officials say the ban is no longer needed. No abnormalities were found in the animals one week after samples were taken. Farmers are now free to transport some 576,000 birds at 19 farms in the area.

There is still a ban on the transport of ducks, however. That can only be lifted after negative results in serum tests. Those begin January 20th, two weeks after the samples were taken.

고병원성 AI 바이러스가 검출된 구좌읍 일대의 닭 사육농가에 대한 이동제한 조치가 해제됐습니다.

제주도는 시료 채취 이후 1주일이 지났지만 특별한 이상이 발생하지 않음에 따라
예찰지역에 포함됐던 닭 사육농가 19곳, 57만 6천 마리에 대한 이동제한 조치를 해제한다고 밝혔습니다.

다만 오리는 시료 채취일로부터 14일이 지난 20일부터 진행되는 혈청검사 등에서 이상이 없어야 이동제한이 해제됩니다.
