\227,000 needed for ancestral rites this year
8% more than last year

It will cost nearly 227,000 won to buy all of the items needed to hold ancestral rites for the Lunar New Year.

The Jeju Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently surveyed prices. It’s estimate for a four-person family this year is eight percent higher than what was needed for the same items last year, when they cost about 210,000 won.

Typhoon damage has boosted vegetable prices by 7.7 percent. Fruit is 6.5 percent more expensive, and meat and seafood costs 10 percent more than it did last year.

올해 설 차례상 비용으로 22만 6천820원이 들 것으로 조사됐습니다.

제주상공회의소가 최근 제주시내 재래시장에서 제수용품 가격을 조사한 결과
4인 가족 기준으로 이같은 비용이 들 것으로 예상했습니다.

지난해 20만 9천900원보다 8% 상승한 것입니다.

특히 지난해 태풍 피해로 배추와 무 등 월동채소 가격이 오르면서 채소류는 지난해보다 7.7% 상승했고, 과일류 6.5%, 육류와 해산물은 10% 오른 것으로 조사됐습니다.
