Only Saturday looks clear

It won’t be terribly cold, but it’s looking like much of the Lunar New Year holiday period will be wet.

The Korea Meteorological Administration says it will rain nationwide Friday, but that it should begin letting up here in Jeju in the afternoon.

Saturday looks pretty good - clear skies and average temperatures.

A low pressure system will then move in, though, bringing more rain from Sunday afternoon through Monday.

Strong winds and high waves are forecast all across the country for Monday, as well, so forecasters are already warning people traveling by ferry and those that work on the water to prepare for rough conditions.

설 연휴 잦은 '비'…큰 추위 없어

설 연휴기간 제주는 평년과 비슷한 기온분포를 보이겠지만 비 소식이 잦을 전망입니다.

기상청은 오늘 보도자료를 통해 설 연휴 첫날 전국에 비가 내리겠으며 제주는 오전까지 내리다 그치겠다고 예보했습니다.

설 당일은 전국이 맑고 기온도 평년수준을 보이겠습니다.

다음 날인 29일 낮부터는 다시 기압골의 영향을 받아 제주를 시작으로 비가 내리겠으며, 대체휴일인 30일까지 이어지겠습니다.

특히 설 연휴 마지막날은 우리나라 전해상에 바람이 강하게 불고 물결이 높게 일 것으로 보여 뱃길 귀경객과 조업하는 선박에 각별한 주의가 요구됩니다.
