Waste disposal rules eased during ‘Singugan’
Those moving not subject to day-based disposal rules

Authorities are easing some of the rules regarding waste disposal in order to minimize headaches for people during the traditional moving season, called “Singugan.”

From January 25th through February first, both of the island’s municipal administrations will allow people who are moving to dispose of any type of waste or recyclable on any day, though the times allowed for disposal will remain unchanged.

This rule does not apply to people who are not moving, though, and critics say that will create a lot of confusion.

신구간 요일별 배출제 일부 조정 '혼선'

제주 전통 이사철인 신구간과 설 명절 연휴를 맞아 쓰레기 요일별 배출제도가 일부 조정돼 또 다른 혼란이 우려됩니다.

양 행정시는 오는 25일부터 다음달 1일까지 신구간을 맞아 이사를 하는 가구에 한해 배출시간은 현행 그대로 유지하되 요일에 제한없이 쓰레기를 버릴 수 있도록 허용합니다.

하지만 이사를 하지 않는 일반 시민의 경우 종전과 같이 요일별 배출제를 그대로 적용한다는 방침이어서 시민 혼선이 예상됩니다.
