Feasibility study on privatizing wastewater management
Research will be complete by end of March

With the vast numbers of people moving to the island, and the millions of visitors it hosts every year, the province is having a hard time dealing with the wastewater generated, so it is very seriously considering turning that responsibility over to the private sector.

Officials have commissioned the Jeju Development Institute to study the feasibility of privatizing operations at the sewage treatment plant in Dodu-dog.

The institute will determine whether such a change is possible in the first place, and whether it would make financial sense.

The province wants the study to be complete by the end of March, after which officials will study the results and then move ahead accordingly.

제주특별자치도는 최근 제주발전연구원에 제주시 도두동의 제주하수처리장 민간위탁 타당성에 따른 용역을 발주했습니다.

민간위탁이 가능한지, 가능하다면 경제적으로 타당한지를 분석하게 됩니다.

제주도는 3월 이전에 용역을 마무리하고 민간위탁이 타당하다는 결론이 나오면
공론화 작업을 거쳐 본격 추진한다는 구상입니다.
