Exports of farmed olive flounder up 10%
Roughly \34.4b in revenue last year

The revenue generated by exports of farmed olive flatfish from Jeju is growing by about ten percent a year.

According to the provincial government, around 2,700 tons were sold in 15 foreign countries last year. That generated nearly 34.4 billion won in revenue.

In 2014, 2,900 tons were shipped for about 28.5 billion won. In 2015, it was 3,000 tons for roughly 30 billion won.

Flatfish has become one of the island’s leading exports. It accounts for over 50 percent of the Japanese flatfish market, and it is now being shipped to the US, China, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, and other countries.

제주광어 수출 실적이 매년 10% 이상 신장세를 보이고 있습니다.

제주도에 따르면 제주광어는 지난해 2천700여 톤을 세계 15개국으로 수출해
343억6천여 만원의 수익을 올렸습니다.

특히 수출 실적은 2014년 2천900여 톤에서 2015년 3천톤으로 매년 10% 이상의 신장세를 보이고 있습니다.

제주광어는 일본에서의 시장 점유율 50%를 넘어섰고 최근 미국과 중국은 물론 아랍에미리트와 베트남 등으로 해외시장을 넓혀가면서 제주의 수출효자 품목으로 자리잡고 있습니다.
