30% of international passengers took budget airlines in 2016
Nearly 60% of domestic tickets were on low-cost carriers

More than 30 percent of all international tickets sold last year were on one of the country’s six budget airlines.

According to the Korea Airports Corporation, the eight carriers registered in the country sold 47.2 million tickets on international routes last year.

14.3 million were on Jeju Air, Jin Air, Air Busan, or one of the other low-cost airlines. That’s 30.3 percent of the total.

The budget carriers’ slice of the domestic flight ticket market also grew significantly last year to 57.4 percent.

LCC 국제 여객 수송분담률 30% 넘어

지난해 국내 6개 저비용항공사의 국제여객 수송분담률이 처음 30%를 넘어섰습니다.

한국공항공사에 따르면 지난해 8개 국적 항공사의 국제선 여객수는 4천720만 명입니다.

이 가운데 제주항공과 진에어, 에어부산 등 6개 저비용 항공사가 수송한 국제선 여객은 1천430만 명으로 전체의 30.3%를 차지했습니다.

이와함께 국내선의 경우 저비용항공사의 여객 수송분담률은 전체의 57.4%를 기록하며 가파르게 상승하고 있습니다.
