3 more arrests in online gambling case
Suspects charged with running illegal websites out of Vietnam

Provincial police have caught an additional three people who were allegedly involved in the operation of illegal sports gambling websites.

The suspects include a 25-year-old surnamed Kim. Two of the three have been jailed.

Police say they ran three sites out of an they had set up in Vietnam. The 42-year-old suspected director of the scheme was arrested last year.

Investigators say the group collected 30 billion won in bets from some 3,000 people who signed up to use the sites. The illegal gambling operation went live in August 2015 ran for about one year.

Including the director and site operators, the police have now nabbed 16 people for involvement in this case. Eight are now behind bars.

제주지방경찰청은 베트남에 사무실을 차려놓고 수 백억 원대의 불법 스포츠 도박 사이트를 운영한 혐의로 25살 김 모 씨등 3명을 붙잡아 2명을 구속했습니다.

경찰에 따르면 이들은 지난해 검거된 총책 42살 김모씨와 함께 지난 2015년 8월부터 1년여 동안 불특정 회원 3천 명을 대상으로 300억여 원을 배팅받아
불법 스포츠 도박사이트 3개를 운영한 혐의를 받고 있습니다.

경찰은 이번 사건과 관련해 지금까지 베트남 현지 총책을 비롯해 사이트 운영자 등 모두 16명을 붙잡아 8명을 구속했습니다.
