Jeju population surpasses 660,000
Total grows by 19,000 last year

More than 660,000 thousand people now live in Jeju.

The provincial government says the tally at the end of 2015 was just over 661,000. That’s about 19,000 more people than the year before.

For the first time, males now outnumber females on the island by about 5,400.

Fortysomethings account for 17.5 percent of the local population - the most for any age group. Those in their 50s account for 15.6 percent, and thirtysomethings account for 13.9 percent.

The number of non-Korean residents of the island grew 15 percent over the year to roughly 19,000. That’s three percent of the island’s population.

제주도 인구가 66만명을 넘어섰습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 지난 연말 기준으로 주민등록인구는 66만1천190명으로
재작년에 비해 1만9천여명이 증가했습니다.

남성 인구 증가가 두드러져 여성 인구보다 처음 5천400명 많았습니다.

연령대별로는 40대가 전체의 17.5%로 가장 많고 다음이 50대로 15.6%, 30대 13.9%입니다.

또 외국인이 1만9천여명으로 재작년보다 15% 증가하며 제주도 전체 인구의 3%를 차지했습니다.
