4.6m square meters of ancestral land returned to owners
Government helps applicants find land

More people are taking advantage of a government service to find ancestral land that is legally theirs.

Provincial officials say nearly 6,900 have signed up for it.

Eighteen hundred of them have regained a total of 64-hundred plots of ancestral land, measuring a combined 4.6 million square meters.

Those interested may sign up for the service at either the general civil service offices in Jeju City or Seogwipo or the provincial department of design and architecture. The government will search a national computer network for land registered in the name of an applicant’s ancestor.

'조상땅 찾아주기' 사업이 호응을 얻고 있습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 지금까지 접수된 '조상땅 찾아주기' 서비스 신청은 6천 900여건에 이르고 있습니다.

이 가운데 1천 800 여명이 6천 400여필지에 460만 제곱미터의 조상땅을 되찾은 것으로 나타났습니다.

'조상땅 찾아주기 서비스'는 사망한 조상 명의의 토지를 국가 전산망을 통해 찾아주는 서비스로 행정시 종합민원실이나 제주도 디자인건축지적과를 방문해 신청할 수 있습니다.
