‘No plans on how to improve waste disposal system’
Lawmakers question provincial officials

The problems of the island’s new waste disposal policy, which KCTV has been focusing on for weeks, became a hot topic at this week’s provincial council session.

During a work report session, lawmakers on the environmental city committee pointed out to members of the province’s provincial environmental protection department that they had not offered any ideas on how to improve the system, despite the flood of complaints it has caused.

The committee therefore gave some suggestions. It recommended extending the trial period for the new system to December rather than June and allowing communities to designate days for recyclable collection.

제주도의회 환경도시위원회는 오늘(9일) 환경보전국을 대상으로 한 업무보고자리에서 쓰레기 요일별 배출에 대한 도민들의 불만이 빗발치고 있지만
올해 주요 업무에는 이에 대한 개선책이 전혀 없다고 지적했습니다.

그러면서 문제를 해결하기 위해 동네 특성에 맞게 배출 요일을 정할 수 있도록 재량권을 부여하고 올해 6월까지 예정돼 있는 시범 운영 기간도 6개월 더 연장하는 방안을 검토할 것을 제안했습니다.
