Provincial education office responds to allegations of cronyism

The provincial office of education has responded to allegations of cronyism in personnel decisions by formulating new measures to improve its assessment of job candidates.

The office says that when it is hiring a new principle from inside the school system, it transfers to parents some of the authority the superintendent of education has over the process.

In order to ensure more objectivity, the office plans to form an association staffed by people recommended by teachers organizations and provincial council members. That association will help in the selection of new principals.

내부형 교장 공모제를 둘러싼 코드인사 논란과 관련해 교육당국이 평가 방식 개선방안을 검토합니다.

제주도교육청은 내부형 교장 공모의 경우 학부모 등에게 교육감의 인사권을 일부 위임하는 역할을 해 교육부도 확대를 권장하는 제도라고 강조했습니다.

하지만 교장 공모제의 객관성 확보를 위해 교원단체 추천 인사나 도의회 교육위원들이 참여하는 가칭 내부형 공모 교장 평가 협의체를 구성하는 방안을 검토하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
