Foot-and-mouth disease spreading on mainland

The provincial government has responded to a mainland foot-and-mouth disease outbreak by banning all imports of pig and cattle from other parts of the nation and halting all transactions in the local livestock market.

Local officials instituted the ban after the national government upgraded its threat level for the disease.

Officials have also put a halt to all transactions between farms and at the livestock markets in Hallim-eup, Jeju City and Namwon-eup, Seogwipo.

구제역 확산…우제류 반입·반출 전면 금지

구제역의 전국적인 확산으로 다른지방산 소·돼지 반입이 전면 금지된 가운데,
제주도내 가축시장의 거래도 모두 중지됐습니다.

제주특별자치도는 정부가 구제역 위기 경보 단계를 경계에서 심각으로 격상함에 따라 다른지방으로부터 소, 돼지 등 우제류 가축에 대한 반입과 반출을 전면 금지했습니다.

또 제주시 한림읍과 서귀포시 남원읍 등 도내 가축시장 두곳을 통한 소, 돼지 거래도 모두 중단하고, 농가간의 우제류 거래도 오는 18일까지 한시적으로 금지했습니다.
