Jeju City now footing 90% of the bill

More people are taking Jeju City up on its offer of increased support for the creation of their own private parking space.

The city is encouraging citizens to take advantage of the program, and 165 signed up for it. After a review of the applicants, officials determined that 129 met the criteria. They will receive a total of 200 million won among them.

That’s three times as many recipients as last year. Analysts say it’s because the city is now footing 90 percent of the bill for the spaces.

City officials say they plan to expand this initiative even further in the future.

자기차고지에 대한 재정 지원 비율이 높아지면서 신청자도 크게 늘었습니다.

제주시는 자기차고지 갖기사업에 대한 공모 결과 모두 165군데가 접수돼 이 가운데 결격 대상을 제외한 129군데에 대해 2억원의 사업비를 지원한다고 밝혔습니다.

이는 지난해보다 3배 가까이 증가한 규모로 보조금 지원비율이 전체 사업비의 90%까지 높아졌기 때문입니다.

제주시는 앞으로도 자기차고지 갖기사업을 확대해 나갈 계획입니다.
