Jeju Peace Taekwondo Championship begins Tuesday
Over 2,500 competitors from around the country

The 12th Jeju Peace Taekwondo Championship begins Tuesday with an opening ceremony at Halla Gymnasium.

The tournament is being hosted by the Korea Taekwondo Association and KCTV. It will run through February 20th.

About 2,000 middle and high school athletes from across the nation will compete in the sparring portion of the event. Another 540 will take part in “poomsae,” or forms, events.

National team trials will directly follow the tournament, on February 21st and 22nd.

KCTV and MBC Sport Plus will broadcast the main events live, including the opening ceremony.

올해로 12번째를 맞은 제주 평화기 전국 태권도대회가 오는 14일 개막합니다.

제주특별자치도태권도협회가 주관하고 대한태권도협회와 KCTV제주방송이 주최하는 이번 대회는 14일 한라체육관에서 열리는 개회식을 시작으로 7일 간의 열전에 돌입합니다.

이번 대회에는 겨루기 부문에 남녀 중·고등부 2천여명 품새대회 540여 명 등 모두 2천600여 명의 선수가 참가할 예정입니다.

특히, 평화기 대회에 이어 오는 21일과 22일에는 태권도 국가대표 선발전도 함께 진행됩니다.

KCTV제주방송은 MBC 스포츠플러스와 함께 개회식을 비롯해 주요 경기를 전국에 생중계 합니다.
