All new buildings of at least 2 floors must be quake resistant
New rule went into effect earlier this month

Until recently, all new buildings of three or more floors had to be built to resist earthquakes, but officials have expanded that requirement to include two-story structures.

Jeju City says an amendment to the construction law governing natural disaster safety took effect February fourth.

Quake-resistant design is now mandatory for all new buildings of two or more floors.

The one exception is wooden buildings - they must be built to the new standards only if they are three or more stories.


2층 이상 건축물 내진설계 의무화

내진설계 의무 대상이 3층 이상 건물에서 2층 이상 건축물까지 확대됐습니다.

제주시는 재난과 재해에 대한 건축물의 안전관리를 강화하는 내용의 건축법령이
지난 4일자로 개정돼 시행에 들어갔다고 밝혔습니다.

이에따라 2층 이상 건축물은 내진설계가 의무화됩니다.

다만 목구조 건물은 종전 같이 3층 이상인 경우에만 내진설계 하도록 했습니다.
