‘No procedural flaws with Ora Tourism Complex’
Provincial audit commission rejects claims of civil organization

Provincial auditors have rejected the claims of a civil society organization that there were procedural flaws in the permitting process for the Ora Tourism Complex.

The civil group claimed that it was illegal to reverse the result of an environmental impact assessment without a request for mediation.

The Jeju Provincial Audit and Inspection Commission concluded that rule doesn’t apply to the case. The commission said a request for mediation is only allowed regarding issues that had been cleared by the provincial council, which the Ora Tourism Complex had not.

Inspectors also addressed another criticism of the project - they said the granting of permission for groundwater use cannot be the grounds for project cancellation.

조정 요청은 도의회 동의를 거친 협의내용에 대해서만 적용할 수 있는 것으로 도의회로 넘어가지 않은 만큼 대상이 아니라고 판단했습니다.

지하수 이용허가 역시 이전 사업자와 유사한 목적으로 사업이 진행되는 만큼 지하수 이용허가 취소사유로 볼 수 없다고 밝혔습니다 .
