New committee to mark 70th anniversary of April Third incident
Group will be officially founded next Wednesday

A new committee will be in charge of commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Jeju April Third Incident nationwide.

Representatives of groups related to the incident and civil society organizations say they will launch the committee next Wednesday at Gwandeokjeong Pavilion in Jeju City as part of the 70th anniversary of Independence Movement Day, which is March first.

The new committee will work to raise awareness across the country of April Third Incident issues, including problems with a total settlement of the incident, compensation and rewards, people who have been convicted of crimes related to the incident, and state-authored textbooks that critics say fail to capture the truth about the incident.
