\2.5b being spent this year on road safety
More traffic signals, warning lights, safety zones

Local authorities are spending billions of won this year to improve safety on the island’s busiest roads.

The provincial police says 2.5 billion won will be spent on the project.

Thirty-seven additional traffic signals will be installed at busy intersections, and more warning lights will be set up in areas with a high risk of accidents.

Authorities will also designate another 16 safety zones, including areas designed to protect children and the elderly.

차량 통행이 많은 주요 도로에 도로 교통 안전 시설물이 확대 설치됩니다.

제주도자치경찰단은 올해 25억 원을 투입해 교통안전시설물 개선사업을 추진합니다.

차량 통행이 많은 구간 37개소에 교통신호기를 새로 설치하고 사고예방을 위한 경보등도 설치됩니다.

또 보행자 안전을 위한 어린이보호구역과 노인보호구역 등 16개소도 추가 지정해 운영할 계획입니다.
