Regions hit by pine wilt disease will be re-planted
Government will select pest-resistant varieties

The provincial government is set to start planting trees in the areas hit hardest by pine wilt disease.

Local officials have earmarked 2.1 billion won to plant trees over 200 hectares of land most affected by the beetles. That includes 101 hectares in Jeju City and 99 hectares in Seogwipo City.

Trees and other vegetation which are strong and resistant to pests, such as Korean Dendropanax, sun trees, and camellias, will be chosen to replenish the island’s forests.

나무심기 사업을 진행합니다.

지역별로는 제주시 101ha, 서귀포 99ha로
황칠나무와, 편백나무, 동백나무 등
병해충에 강한 수종을 심기로 했습니다.
